St. Regis Hotel Celebrates First Anniversary with a Floor Party and Great Food!
November 29th, 2009

This Wednesday, the St. Regis Hotel invited our friends and clients to celebrate our first anniversary with a low-key floor party hosted on the third floor of the Hotel. Along with complimentary massages from our in-house masseur Mishal Rijal and drinks served by the team from the St. Regis Bar and Grille, guests enjoyed a buffet created by St. Regis Chef Gerry Kleinhout. The seafood platter and cooked leg of beef were showstoppers—even the vegetarians were impressed! Guests mingled through the rooms and commented that they thoroughly enjoyed the idea of getting the party out of the ballroom and into the rooms where the atmosphere was relaxed and informal.

On Sunday, the St. Regis Hotel will officially reach the one year mark since reopening and we want to send out sincere thanks to everyone who’s helped make us Vancouver’s #1 rated hotel for business travellers and one of the top-3 hotels in Vancouver. We’re looking forward to many more years of offering great service in boutique surroundings in downtown Vancouver.

And thanks to all of our friends and supporters who came out on Wednesday for our celebration.

The St. Regis Hotel supports Mitts for Kids
November 28th, 2009

With the opening of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics so close at hand, the City is awhirl with excitement. Along with all the physical legacies the games leave behind, harder to measure, but just as important is the deep impression the games will leave on the youth of the City, Province and Country.

Mitts for Kids (http://www.mittsforkids.com) is a local grass-roots initiative to connect all the schoolchildren in Vancouver to the 2010 Games by outfitting them in a pair of the iconic Vancouver 2010 Red Mittens. The charity is raising money to give mittens to local children to give them greater sense of connection to the games and all the positive role models for fitness, self-esteem and commitment it offers.

The Bay is giving Mitts for Kids a discount on the purchase of the Red Mitts and so Mitts for Kids will also donate $1 from the $10 mitten purchase price to the Hot Lunch Program in Vancouver schools.

The St. Regis Hotel supports the Mitts for Kids program and we’re encouraging all our staff and friends to not only support the program through donation but also by passing work along to their family and friends.

“The Olympics are almost upon us,” said Jeremy Roncoroni, General Manager of the St. Regis Hotel. “I believe that it’s time for everyone in this city to pull together to show our best face to the World. Mitts for Kids is a positive way to involve the youth of Vancouver in the Games and contribute to a concrete charitable program at the same time.”

While the 2010 Games are on, Children will be able to wear the same Red Mittens worn by the athletes and hopefully, they will keep them as time passes as a reminder of the excitement and positive example which they can use in their own lives.

Please join us in supporting this great cause. Visit http://www.mittsforkids.com.

Massage at the St. Regis - Now Open
November 1st, 2009

We are told that life’s treasures are sometimes hidden right under our noses, and the launch of the St. Regis Hotel’s onsite massage program is certainly proof of this wisdom. Recently, we found our own hidden treasure at the St. Regis Hotel.

Our GM, Jeremy Roncoroni has quietly suffered from chronic back pain for some time and one of the tasks which most exacerbates this pain is doing bed and room inspections before each check-in. (Did we mention that our managers inspect each and every room before it is released for guest check in?)

One day, Jeremy was doing room inspection and prep with Mishal Rijal, one of our hotel staff and he complained to Mishal about his back. Mishal immediately offered a massage to Jeremy who turned down the offer with a “sure, one of these days”. What Jeremy didn’t know was that Mishal had trained and certified as a holistic practitioner of massage before leaving Dubai for Canada, and not just in one form of Massage but in four—deep tissue, Traditional Thai, Swedish and Polynesian (Balinese).

A few weeks later, Jeremy’s pain was at its worst and he decided to revisit Mishal’s offer. Just one treatment later, the back pain had receded and Jeremy was not only back to normal but determined not to let Mishal’s gift go unused and so was born the idea for the newest addition to the St. Regis Hotel’s services.

On October 18th, we started offering on-site massage services to our guests and other clients. We have built a massage studio in our hotel where Mishal will be able to offer his healing expertise to guests and visitors. With four massage techniques from which to choose, Mishal is able to develop a massage approach specific to each person’s needs, whether it’s a gentle release of daily stress, recovery from hard exertion, or relieving pain from chronic conditions.

And it all came together because of a sore back . . . which is still doing great thanks to Mishal’s ongoing treatment!

Please visit the massage page on this website for more details.
