Vancouver Boutique Hotel - St. Regis - Blog

While the walls of a 95-year old downtown hotel have many stories to tell about the characters who have wandered the halls and lived in its rooms, we’re going to use this blog to tell a few of the newer ones. That's only fitting really, given that most of the old walls inside the St. Regis Hotel were replaced during the extensive 18-month renovation process.

The St Regis Hotel and Scotiabank Team up for the Sick Kids’ Foundation
May 19th, 2010

The St. Regis Hotel recently teamed up with the Cardero and West Georgia Branch of Scotiabank to raise money for the Sick Kids Foundation. On May 8th and 15th, St. Regis Hotel GM Jeremy Roncoroni spent the day at the BBQ making hot dogs and, on May 15th, he was joined by Mishal Rijal, who brought along his treatment chair and gave massages by donation.

While not to take anything away from Jeremy’s mastery of the BBQ, Mishal was kept busy throughout his allotted time giving massages to very happy customers. In fact, the demand for his unique expertise was such that he ended up staying longer than planned to cope with the demand. It sounds as though some Scotiabank clients will soon also be regular clients of Mishal’s services as some of the walk up visitors have since booked full massages at the Hotel at the regular low rate of $1/minute.

Needless to say, before he was allowed to leave, the manager of the Scotiabank Branch made Mishal promise to come back and participate in their next fundraiser.

The Experience Genie visits the St. Regis Hotel
May 12th, 2010

The Experience Genie travels all over North America hosting deserving people as they have “experience dream days” in their home city. These can include spa visits, flights, exotic car rides, gourmet meals and luxury hotel stays.

Recently the Experience Genie visited Vancouver and the St. Regis Hotel was proud to be part of the experience, donating a room night to host the lucky recipient of an Experience Dream Day. Cancer survivor and mother of two Shannon Simpson was surprised with a full day of experiences during which she was chauffeured around Vancouver in a BMW Roadster, got to fly a plane, and spent a night in one of the St. Regis Hotel’s gorgeous suites. While she was here, she was also treated to a superb massage by our in-house “massage genie” Mishal Rijal. She loved the massage so much, we had to come and pull her away to keep the Dream Day in motion!

The day was documented by both CityTV’s Breakfast Television and the Experience Genie team and we have linked to the CityTV piece (we’re mentioned around the 0:57 minute and 2:55 marks) and included a picture of the Shannon arriving at the St. Regis Hotel. Click here to see the video.
