Thank from first-time guests

September 2nd, 2010

We wanted to share a thank you letter from some first-time guests that we received recently. It’s always rewarding for our staff to receive this kind of direct feedback and we’re gratified when our guests take the time to do so.

Jeremy,

Just a quick note to say that our vacation in Vancouver was fabulous!  So sorry we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye before we left, but we had an early flight. Thank YOU very much for your gracious hospitality, “classy” accommodations and recommendations for great dining experiences.  We very much enjoyed chatting with you and learning more about wine and Vancouver (in that order).

Everyone that we met at the St. Regis was so accommodating–from our arrival at your front desk, throughout our entire stay–breakfast, maintenance, housekeeping–and, in particular, Adrian, who went above and beyond to make our stay pleasurable. Actually, everyone we met throughout our visit treated us in a welcoming way.  We look forward to a return visit.

Warm regards,

DS & RS

St. Regis to Auction Deluxe Gran Fondo Whistler Package

August 3rd, 2010

Net proceeds to Benefit Canadian Cancer Society

The St. Regis Hotel Vancouver is proud to be a partner of the inaugural RBC Whistler Gran Fondo, a 120km bicycle ride from Vancouver to Whistler being held September 11th. The ride will see 4000 cyclists across a wide variety of ability levels tackling the spectacular and hilly Sea-to-Sky Highway 99 as it winds its way to Whistler. The Gran Fondo will offer riders the chance to ride in a completely closed lane of traffic for the full length of Highway 99 which was completely repaved and improved in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

With the event selling out quickly, entries are now in even higher demand and have started to resell online for multiple times their face value. As an event sponsor, the St. Regis Hotel was allotted event entries and will be auctioning a limited number of these entries as full event packages including a night in a deluxe St. Regis Hotel Executive Suite and massage from the St. Regis Hotel’s in-house holistic massage practitioner.

Net proceeds from the auction will go to the Canadian Cancer Society, one of the charities of choice for the St. Regis Hotel.

“Outstanding hotel at reasonable price.”

July 28th, 2010

Sinclair and Frederique Philip

We are always grateful for kind words and compliments from our customers but when the compliment comes from a guest who is also a legend in the hospitality business, it’s something that makes us very proud of the work that is put in by the staff of the St. Regis Hotel Vancouver.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting Sinclair Philip, the owner of the world famous Sooke Harbour House and a member of the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame, on a visit to Vancouver. When we did our usual check of the traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.com, he’d taken the time to post the following:

“Outstanding hotel at reasonable price.”

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vancouver. The rooms are impeccable, the service is excellent, the rooms are quiet and the location is very central.
–Sinclair Philip
Sooke Harbour House

Named one of “The Best Small Hotels in the World” by Travel & Leisure Magazine, Sooke Harbour House is one of the premiere destinations in Canada and to receive such praise from the person most responsible for its reputation is completely gratifying and flattering. Thanks to Sinclair and thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post such kind reviews.

“Outstanding Housekeeping and Maintenance”

July 23rd, 2010

Getting a visit from the AAA/CAA inspector is always a stressful time for a hotel. They come with a keen eye for detail and leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the millions of members who turn to their guides get an honest assessment of a hotel’s services and facilities.

Recently, the AAA Travel inspector paid us a visit to check in on our progress and we were very flattered by the inspector’s notes that said the St. Regis Hotel Vancouver showed “Outstanding housekeeping and maintenance, well done!”

It’s only one line on an inspection form but it makes us very proud of the work and commitment demonstrated by our entire team. Maintenance and housekeeping require constant effort and attention from every member of staff to ensure that high standards are met and to be watchful for things that can be improved. It’s a complete team effort and we are sure that it’s something that our guests notice when they choose to stay at an independent, boutique hotel like the St. Regis Hotel Vancouver.

So thanks to AAA for the compliment and thanks again to our staff for the hard work which made it possible!

The St. Regis Hotel Vancouver is the Champion’s Choice

Svein Tuft wins the 2010 Yaletown Grand Prix

Professional cyclist Svein Tuft is surely one of Canada’s finest athletes. Having competed in the 2008 Beijing summer Olympics and won a silver medal at the 2008 World Cycling Championships, he has spent the last two years racing for top professional team Garmin-Transitions on the European Pro circuit. Earlier this year, he completed the 23-day, 3700km Giro D’Italia race and recently came back to Canada for an extended training break to prepare him for the Commonwealth Games and World Championships later this year.

Svein is jumping into a number of local bike races while he’s here and the St. Regis Hotel hosted him when he was downtown from his training base in the Fraser Valley to participate in the Yaletown Grand Prix held July 1st through the streets of Vancouver best-known neighbourhood.

He wrote us a quick note to thank us for the stay:

Thanks for putting us up.     My recent stay at the St Regis Hotel in downtown Vancouver, during the Yaletown Grand Prix, was excellent. It is situated in a prime location. It was only a short walk to Gastown, Canada place, the harbour front and, the cities main shopping and dinning areas. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. They had plenty of extra storage for bike equipment.

My room was very clean and bright, which allowed for a spectacular view of the city. The room was equipped with a flat screen television and wireless Internet service. This made it easy to get in relaxation time as well as, take care of some business.

I was able to get a quality night’s sleep due to the comfort of the beds and, the room was really quiet despite being located in the centre of the city. It provided me the rare pleasure of being able to easily access the great aspects of the city while maintaining some of the comforts of home.

It definitely contributed to my pleasant return back to BC.

Svein Tuft

Svein rides at the front

Oh and if you’re wondering, he won the race lapping the entire field! You can watch Svein and other great racers compete over the next couple of weeks at BC Superweek and you can watch for him during the Commonwealth Games later this year.

The St. Regis Hotel is also a proud sponsor of the RBC Whistler Gran Fondo bike ride and race taking place this September. Stay tuned for details to follow!
